Unfolding a flag of a deceased veteran after military funeral?
My friend just found the American Flag that was given to her dad after her grandpa was buried. It has been stored away for almost 30 years. She just recently found it and bought a case to place it in for display, but it is very loose and needs to be tighter to fit in the case, and neither one of us know how to do it right. My brother is in the Army on active duty. We asked him if he could unfold it and re fold it to be placed in the case. My question is......is it considered disrespectful to the army, or the family, or to my brother to unfold a deceased veteran flag and refold it. He seemed kind of hesitant about it, but he could have just been busy. He said he would do it later, but he never brought it up again. My brother loves his country and is the most dedicated person I know!! He is a pilot on the Chinook Heli and LOVES what he does. He has been in the army for almost 15 years. And has been deployed 4 or 5 times. I have seen him fold flags and present them to our family, for missions that he completed and dedicated a flag to. Since this person is not a family member of my brothers, would it be disrespectful do this.
